Moses H. Cone Memorial Park

Saturdays and Sundays

Moses Cone Memorial Park MP 294 Join rangers for a tour of the second floor of the beautiful, former home of Moses and Bertha Cone (MP 294). Tours are held on Saturdays and Sundays and last about 30 minutes.
Reservations are required.
Tour times: Sat. and Sun. @ 10am, 11am, 2pm, 3pm & 4pm
For Reservations: Please call (828)295-3782 or sign up @ the NPS information desk at the Moses Cone Manor House. Registrations accepted beginning @ 9am for the weekend of the requested tour only.

Guided Nature Walk
Autumn is on the way and nature is beginning its great seasonal change.  Join a ranger to discover blooming wildflowers, identify towering trees, and experience this amazing time outdoors.  Meet on the Cone Manor Front Porch and wear your hiking shoes for this 2 mile round-trip, moderate hike.   Approximately 1.5 hours.

The Incredible Journey of the Monarch
Every year monarch butterflies make a fantastically complicated journey of over 2000 miles.  Join a ranger to learn some of the difficulties they must overcome as they travel southward.  Discover ways that we can help keep these beautiful creatures from becoming an endangered species in this 40 minute program.

Signs of Life
Have you ever wondered what lurks in the woods around you?  Join a ranger to look for the signs of life that will help us to understand the creatures that hide beyond the trail.   This program will last approximately 40 minutes.

Campground Evening Programs. Beginning May 24, 2008. Join rangers at the Julian Price Park Campground Amphitheatre (MP 297) for an evening program by the lake. Topics and times will vary. Programs are held on Friday and Saturday nights. Call 828-295-6308 for more information.

Healthy Family Programs. Beginning June 6, 2008. Rangers will offer a special "active" program for families this year. Every Friday during June and July, families (and anyone else interested in getting active) can join rangers for hikes and other outdoor activities. Locations, times, and topics will vary.
