Chapters

Chapters are the Backbone of FRIENDS

Throughout the winter months when the Blue Ridge Parkway trails were closed,  several chapters of FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway continued to plant trees, recruit volunteers, and maintain their trails. These chapters collected donations from donation boxes, sold FRIENDS’ merchandise, provided volunteers to the speakers bureau and music center, maintained trails, fundraised, built bridges, and participated in viewshed projects.

Contact the FRIENDS office if you are interested in helping to grow these chapters. Or, if you would like to consider creating your own local community chapter, please click Join Chapter for more information about the application process.

Donation Boxes

Blue Ridge Parkway Superintendent, Phil Francis, says that he is "delighted  that FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway has agreed to take the lead in building and managing these boxes, and I am excited about this new undertaking.

These boxes will generate significant revenue - similar approaches in other parks have returned hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single year. That's no small sum, and given our ongoing budget shortfalls, I have every reason to hope and believe that we will enjoy good returns as well."
