FRIENDS Cherokee Chapter

Leadership for the newly developing Cherokee FRIENDS Chapter is being provided by Co-Chairs Robert Jumper and Tonya Jenks. Two meetings have been held in 2010 to solicit involvement in the new chapter’s effort s by other Cherokee community leaders.

Parkway projects under consideration include refurbishing the Waterrock Knob Trail at mp 451.2 and fund-raising to support other Parkway projects. The Chapter hopes to sponsor a 2011 summer camp to develop children’s appreciation and knowledge of nature, and they are investigating participation and training in the NPS Gateway Community initiative. The Chapter will also be asked to manage the donation box collection at Waterrock Knob Visitor Center once the box has been installed.

To volunteer with our chapter or to provide some leadership on the steering committee, please contact Robert Jumper.
